Kathryn Lucille Gallagher, 67

OSWEGO, NY – Kathryn Lucille Gallagher, 67, of Oswego, passed lovingly into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2013.

Kathy’s faith in Christ was the hallmark of her life which she demonstrated through her unconditional love toward her husband, children, family and friends.

Mom’s passion for life was demonstrated through her choice each day to live life to the fullest by embracing those around her with humor, hospitality, and grace.

Kathy attended St. John’s Elementary School, graduated from Oswego Catholic High School in 1964 and later attended Cayuga Community college.

Her professional career began in the insurance industry, followed by employment with Niagara Mohawk for 10 years.

She was chosen to be the first woman to work onsite at Nine Mile Point One nuclear plant where she was highly valued and esteemed by the plant manager and her fellow employees.

In 1972, her husband, Bill, had the privilege of joining his life together with hers.

With the advent of her daughter’s birth, she began her new career as a full-time mother and homemaker.

In her role as a mother, she found immense joy and satisfaction and created a loving home for her family.

She had a great love for animals, nature, birds and her many dogs that loved her equally in return.

She took great joy in the simple pleasures of mowing her lawn and feeding the birds that visited her home.

She was an avid swimmer who loved being outdoors and near the water and beach.

Kathy was a faithful member of New Covenant Community Church where she humbly and diligently poured into the lives of others through Bible studies, mentoring and friendship.

She was an active volunteer in her community, serving with various organizations, most notably, the American Red Cross.

She also helped to spearhead the establishment of Young Life in Oswego County.

Most significantly to her husband, she was the heart and soul behind the family business, Industrial Precision.

Surviving are husband of 40 years, William Gallagher; a daughter, Kathryn Ellen Gallagher of Fairport; one son, Peter (Heather) Gallagher of Penfield; a sister, Marie Potter of Oswego; and many other loving family members.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Lucille (Paloni) Potter; and a brother, R. Michael Potter.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the New Convenant Community Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the New Convenant Community Church, 51 E. Oneida St., Oswego, on Tuesday from 3-7 p.m.
