OSWEGO – Mary E. Borte, 81, of Oswego NY, passed away on January 12, 2025. Born in Oswego she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Dorval) Shortt.
She was formerly employed with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for fifteen years and was also employed with the New York State Thruway.
Mary enjoyed the peace and quiet of home as well as being an active member of her community. Mary loved the outdoors and gardening. She also enjoyed keeping her mind sharp as an active member of the Oswego County Bridge Association. For many years, Mary donated her time and efforts to Human Concerns, Oswego Hospital Auxiliary and the catholic church. Mary will be remembered for her smart wit and giving manner. Mary’s vivacious spirit will be missed dearly by those who knew her.
Surviving are two sons, Derek (Samantha) Borte, Mark Borte, and three precious granddaughters, Isabella, Mirella, and Donatella. She is also survived by her former spouse and father of her two sons, Charles Borte as well as sisters-in-laws, Donna Shortt and Eleanor Audlin.
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
