OSWEGO – November 12, 1964 – July 30, 2024, Michele Rose DuBois, formerly Granger, of Oswego, New York, passed away on July 30, 2024. Born on November 12, 1964 in Saddle Brook, New Jersey, Shelly lived a life marked by joy, adventure, and deep connections with those around her.

Shelly was the beloved mother of Amber Sweeting [Robert Goodman] and grandmother to Skyler Sweeting, son of Christian Sweeting. She is also survived by her brother, Michael [Ann] Granger; Amber’s father, Scott Bowen; Shelly’s brother-in-law, Mike Meggison; her nieces and nephews, Colleen Emond, Billy Meggison, Christopher Granger, Stephanie Fitzgerald, and Chris Fitzgerald, as well as her extended friends and family.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Yvonne Granger; her sister, Kim Meggison; her niece, Janell Granger, and her nephew, Daniel Fitzgerald.

A career professional at James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant for over 25 years, Shelly’s journey took her from New York to South Haven, Michigan and eventually back home to the shores of Lake Ontario, where she spent her retirement surrounded by family and friends. Known for her love of travel, nature, camaraderie, and creative endeavors, Shelly embraced life with an adventurous spirit and a passion for new experiences. In retirement, she dedicated her time to volunteering at the local Moose Lodge and she enjoyed watching her grandson grow into a wonderful young man.

Shelly had a vibrant personality and the ability to create magic in every moment. She had an infectious enthusiasm for life and was a source of inspiration for those who knew her to chase every adventure life has to offer. Her light shone brightly, and her joy was evident in the sparkle of her eyes.

Shelly is mourned by her extended family and friends, including her longest and dearest friends Kelly Sawyer, Trish Waters, and Terri Bernys, and her old dog Buddy. Her legacy of fun, independence, and love will be cherished by all who knew her. Amber will always hold “I Hope You Dance” close to her heart, as that was their song, and Shelly was our sunshine.

Calling hours will be Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4-6pm at the Dowdle Funeral Home.  A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Oswego Moose Lodge.
