Mildred E. Van Buren, 102

OSWEGO – Mildred E. Van Buren, 102, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Monday February 16, 2015, at the Morningstar Residental Care Center.

Born in Wellsville, NY, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Data  (Crane) Blunt.

Mrs. Van Buren worked for the Nestles Company in Fulton and retired from the Breneman-Hartshorn Shade Company, Oswego.

She volunteered for many years at the St. Luke’s Health Services and with the RSVP.

She was a communicant of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

Mrs. Van Buren is survived by her son, Daniel (Roberta) Van Buren of Oswego; two grandsons, Mark (Cheryl) Van Buren and Sean Van Buren; three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tristan and Cierra; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Daniel E. Van Buren, in October 1980; eight sisters, Ethel Sawyer, Ruth Reeves, Helen Vorse, Mabel Clark, Evelyn Hitchcock, Margaret Lester, Blanche Greeney and Ernestine Crouch; and two brothers, Alfred Blunt and Clarence Blunt.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 1 – 3 p.m with a service to follow the hours.

Spring burial will be in Mexico Village Cemetery.
