Susan J. Cernaro, 87

OSWEGO, NY – Susan J. Cernaro, 87, a resident of 152 E. Tenth St., passed away on Sunday June 6, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Rose (Giaquinto) Mazzoli.

She attended Oak Hill, Fitzhugh Park School and Oswego High School.

Mrs. Cernaro was a homemaker who loved to cook, play the piano and was an avid gardener.

She was well known for being a great caregiver who loved to travel and play music with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan (David) Byrd Baker and Charlotte (Charles) Lanigan both of Oswego; four grandchildren, Dr. Julia (Steven) Byrd Clark, Jennifer (Christopher) Rubacky, Ryan (Nicole) Lanigan, Dr. Trevor (Christina Iannolo) Lanigan; one sister, Frances (Robert) Laurie of Pittsburgh; four brothers, John (Gloria) Mazzoli, Frank (Kay) Mazzoli, George (Jeanne) Mazzoli all of Oswego and James (Robin) Pagliaroli of Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Cernaro, in 1999.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. from St. Paul’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
