OSWEGO, NY – Walter A. “Zeke” Pospesel, 97, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Tuesday July 15, 2014, at Seneca Hill Manor.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Andrew and Grace (Morrision) Pospesel and was a graduate of Oswego High School.
He was employed with the Armstrong Industries for 35 years.
Mr. Pospesel was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the European Theatre during World War II.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was well-known for running the fish cleaning station at Wright’s Landing for many years.
Walter recently received a Certificate of Recognition from Senator Patty Ritchie for his Unwavering Dedication and Service to the United States of America.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Irene Elkin; two sons, Karl (Debbie) Pospesel of Collins NY, and Kirk Pospesel of Clinton Corners, NY; a daughter, Glenda Falise of Oswego; a brother, Bruce Pospesel of Oswego; a sister, Eileen Esford of Oswego; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 5 p.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.
Burial in the future will be held in Rural Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-5 p.m.prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the the family to honor Walter with a bench in his name at Wright’s Landing.
