William LeRoy Johnson, 83

OSWEGO, NY – William LeRoy Johnson, 83, a resident of 2280 County Route 7, Oswego, passed away on Friday July 2, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Scriba, he was a son of the late Orville and Leona (Mitchell) Johnson and had attended Oswego schools.

He was the owner and operator of Johnson Pools for 45 years.

Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

Bill was a life member of VFW #2320, Abraham Lincoln Camp #6 Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Oswego Center Methodist Church.

He enjoyed woodcrafting, fishing, hunting and camping.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Thelma Engle; one daughter, Carolyn (Nelson) Fergurson of Oswego; two sons, Lester Johnson of Oswego and Jeffrey (Mary) Johnson of Syracuse; two brothers, Harold Johnson and Alger Johnson both of Oswego; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his son, Alan Johnson, in 1979.

The family invites friends to a committal service on July 9 at noon at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to the Oswego Center Methodist Church.
