Charles “Charlie” L. Evert, 77, of Fair Haven died Friday.

He was born in Locust Township, PA and resided in Fair Haven for the past 25 years. Charlie’s military career began in 1953 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1964. Charlie enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1976 and retired in 1993 as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Prior Stock Post #1552, Hannibal, and the I.O.O.B. Club in Hannibal.

Charlie is survived by a brother, Larry Evert of Catawissa, PA; a sister, Sharon Bauman of Mena, AR; six sons, Charles (Barbara) Evert, Jr. and Carl (Annie) Evert all of Rochester, Calvin (Carol) Evert of Sterling, Clifford (Karen) Evert, Curtis Evert and Chad Evert all of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the American Legion Prior Stock Post #1552. Contributions in memory of Charlie may be made to the American Legion Prior Stock Post #1552, 226 Rochester St., Hannibal, NY 13074. Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal has care of arrangements.
