MARTVILLE, NY – Charles A. Reed, 59, of Martville passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born to the late Allen Reed, who passed away in 2000, and Gloria Reed, who passed away in 2012, he was a lifetime Martville resident.

Charles started his working life as a dairy farmer, then worked for the Town of Hannibal from 1988-1992, where he was elected and served as the Town of Hannibal Highway Superintendent from 1993 to 2005. He then served as the head mechanic for the Hannibal Central School District from 2005 until his retirement. Charles was a longtime member of the Hannibal Town Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, as well as a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 1552, in Hannibal, J. I. Case Tractor Association, president of the Oswego County Highway Superintendents Association from 1999-2000, as well as the owner of P & R Repair for 30 years.

In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his old tractors.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Cindy Ann, in 1959, and Sheila Martin, in 2007.

Charles is survived by his children, Amanda M. (Dave) Reed, of Baldwinsville and Tyler A. (Eliza) Reed, of Martville; sister, Crystal (Rodney) Leach, of Martville; 3 grandchildren, Ryland, Bennett and Kelsey; companion, Maria Massaro and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday, September 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal. The funeral service will be private. A celebration of life for Charles will be held in the spring of 2021.
