Charles I. VanHorn, 85

HANNIBAL, NY – Charles I. VanHorn, 85, of Red Creek, passed away on Saturday May 18, 2013, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

He was an excavating heavy equipment operator for J K Tobin Construction Co. in Jamesville for more than 35 years.

Charlie loved and was loved by his family and enjoyed John Deere tractors, gardening, woodworking and country music.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 2005; and by three brothers, James, George and Gerald VanHorn.

Surviving are his children, William (Phyllis) VanHorn of Cato, Charles (Laurie) VanHorn of Red Creek, Karen (Doug) DeMaintenon of Orlando, Fla. and Rocco (Cari)

Giacolone of Cato; siblings, Joseph (Sandra) VanHorn of Meridian, Earl (Anne) VanHorn of Cato, Oliver (Shari) VanHorn of Cato, Harold (Dorothy) VanHorn of Cato and Beulah Cavanagh of Weedsport; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal, with services 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Cato Union Cemetery in Cato.
