Donald R. Dunn, Jr.

Donald R. Dunn, Jr.

FULTON – Donald R. Dunn, Jr., 79, of Fulton passed away after a long illness on January 8, 2025 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, with his loving wife by his side.  Born in Fulton to the late Helen and Donald Dunn, Sr., he was a lifelong resident of the area. Donald retired from Carrier Corp. in East Syracuse after 38 years of faithful service.

He was a lifetime member of the Sandy Creek Beagle Club.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his annual fishing trips to Canada.  Donald also loved to watch sunsets while drinking a beer at his cottage on Mexico Point. An annual tradition was tending to his vegetable garden (including a garlic patch), his blueberries and apple orchard on his property on Tug Hill.  His most cherished time was spent with family, friends and his cat, Rini.

Donald was a man that couldn’t pass up a “good deal”, especially a coupon or a garage or yard sale.  A lifetime jokester, he was always looking for a new “victim” to tell his old jokes to.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his sister, Judy Helmer; brother-in-law, Larry Helmer, Sr., and a niece Kim Firenze.

Donald will be greatly missed by his wife of 28 years, Roberta; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Adrian) Upton; brother, Walter (Ginny) Dunn; nephews, Larry Helmer, Jr., Greg (Jenn) Helmer, and Rich Dunn; niece, Dawn (Josh) Jones; great-niece, Chloe Helmer, and great-nephew, Terry Firenze.

Calling hours will be 2:00 pm-5:00 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2025 with a service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, NY 13069.

Donald’s family would like to offer a special thanks to Upstate Hospital, Oswego Hospital, Seneca Hill Manor, Dr. Charles Perla, Dr. Matthew Chaffin, Dr. Ganapathy, Upstate Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Mohammed Kahn and Dr. David Barber for their care of Donald.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the charity of one’s choice.
