It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorathy H. VanPatten on August 11, 2020, our loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Dorathy was born on March 9, 1924, the daughter of Raymond and Helen Shutts in Hannibal, NY, where she lived most of her life. On August 27, 1944, she married her husband, Myron “Jack” VanPatten, and raised three children. She worked as the bank manager at Horizon National Bank, until 1986, and was a member of the Hannibal United Methodist Church and belonged to the Eastern Stars. In her free time, Dorathy enjoyed volunteering at Oswego Health and the Food Pantry of Oswego.
Dorathy was predeceased by her husband, Myron “Jack”; brother, Erwin and sister, Lucille. Dorathy loved her family and leaves behind her children, Lynne (Alex), Raymond (Sally) and Lori (Rick); six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are Monday, August 17 from noon to 1 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal, where social distancing requirements will be observed. A graveside service will follow at 1:15 pm in Hannibal Village Cemetery, Hannibal.
