FULTON – Edward Francis Coe, a lifelong resident of North Volney, New York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on Thursday, March 2nd, 1933, Ed lived a life full of love, dedication, and community service.
Ed was a devoted family man, survived by his loving children, Prudence J. (Gene) Gauger, Vance (Daeng) Coe, and Blane S. Coe. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua (Monica) Coe, Yale (Brenda) Coe, Brandon Coe, Dondi (Travis) Caudill, Robyn Hilts, and Kami (Nate) Sweeting, and cherished his role as a great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren. Ed is also survived by his dear siblings, Janice Burton, Maryann Hanley, and Sheila Bickford, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Kay Coe, his son, Darrell Coe, his parents, Harold and Ruth Coe, and five siblings. Ed’s legacy of kindness and hard work will be remembered by all who knew him.
Ed dedicated many years of his life to the Town of Volney Highway Department, where he worked diligently to serve his community. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for his family and his passion for the simple joys in life.
He found great pleasure in spending time with his family, camping, and working on old tractors. Ed could often be found sitting in his swing at home, enjoying the tranquility of the farm and the company of the cows he adored.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ed’s name to The Chapel at North Volney, 2569 Co. Rte 6, Fulton, a place that held special meaning for him.
A graveside service celebrating Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11am at N. Volney Cemetery. The family invites those who wish to leave a special message or memory of Ed to visit www.fosterfuneralhome.com.
Ed’s warmth, humor, and steadfast spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
