Fern E. Brown Anthony, 77, died Friday of a short term illness.
Born March 18, 1933 in Baldwinsville, she was the daughter of Farhan and Estelle Brown. Fern moved to the Granby area when she was a young child and graduated from Fulton High School in 1950. She retired in 1989 from General Electric Co., where she had worked as an Executive Secretary of 31 years.
Fern was very active in the Fulton Alliance Church, where she was a member for 47 years and served in various capacities. She was the tour director for both the church and Seniors group, as well as for the Granby Seniors. She spent many years planning and participating in many day trips, as well as trips out of state and abroad. This was an activity that she greatly enjoyed!
In July 2006, both Fern and her husband, Robert, were awarded the Granby Citizens of the Year Award, which they took great pride in.
Fern was the loving wife to Robert E. Anthony, who died October 30, 2007 and a loving mother to two surviving children, Nick (Debbie) Anthony and Laurie (Lawrence) Kennedy; as well as a wonderful grandmother to seven, Danielle and Brittany Anthony, Alexandra, Brianne, Lawrence III, Natalea and Robert Anthony Kennedy; two sisters, Margaret (Myron) White of Fulton and Emma Martin of Hannibal; brother-in-law, Frank (Adele) Anthony of Lakeland; cousin, Robert Brown and several nieces and nephews. Fern will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Fulton Alliance Church, 1044 St. Rte. 48, Fulton. Burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander. Calling hours will be 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
