Hal G. Johnson, 65, of Minetto, NY, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a hard-fought battle against cancer.

Hal was born on October 14, 1958, to Mary Johnson-Kilmer and Harold Johnson in Fulton, NY. After Hal graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School in 1976, he went on to study Forest Engineering at SUNY ESF.

In 1983, Hal met Wendy Haegele at Crouse Hospital where they worked together.  Hal and Wendy went on to marry in 1984 then had two children, Caitlin and Trevor, and enjoyed 39 wonderful years of marriage.

During his life, Hal worked as a Central Service Technician and in Grounds Maintenance at Crouse Hospital, as an X-ray service Technician for various companies, including his own, and as a point-of-sale machine installer.  He appreciated the travel opportunities and meeting new people that these positions afforded him, including travel to Hawaii and the Caribbean. In 2022, Hal retired and spent his time bowling, golfing, and enjoying time with family, including doting on his only grandson, Devin.  He also loved collecting things and prided himself on having three of everything, except wives.

Hal was predeceased by his father, Harold Johnson, and his sister, Terri Johnson-Gynn. He is survived by his mother, Mary Kilmer, devoted wife, Wendy Johnson, daughter Caitlin Shaw (Carl), son Trevor Johnson, twin brother David Johnson (Michelle), sisters Jill Pacholyk and Patty LiCourt (Larry), grandson Devin Shaw, loyal canine companion Cooper, and several nieces and nephews. Hal was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Funeral services will be private.  A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 5:00pm at Kristen’s Kitchen at Battle Island in Fulton, NY. To leave a special message for the family, please visit www.fosterfneralhome.com.
