FULTON – James Elmer Merrill, a beloved resident of Fulton, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on Tuesday, October 25th, 1955, in Fulton, James spent his life dedicated to his family, his craft, and his community.
James was a skilled carpenter, known for his meticulous attention to detail and his passion for building.
James is survived by his devoted domestic partner of seven years, Barbara Ann Perrotta, of Fulton, NY. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Beulah (Floyd) Maynard and John (Evelyn) Merrill, as well as several children and his daughter-in-law, Marjorie (James) Perrotta. James was a proud grandfather to many grandchildren and a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyman E. Merrill and Catherine Merrill, as well as two of his children, whose memories he held dear.
James had a zest for life and a love for the simple pleasures it offered. He enjoyed fishing, squirrel watching, and spending time with his family, especially during camping trips. He also found joy in visiting the casino, where he shared many happy moments with loved ones.
