Joan F. Terpening, 47, of South Hannibal died Wednesday at University Hospital.

Born in Syracuse she was a 12 year resident of the South Hannibal area. She was formerly employed by Kosher Valley, in Plainville as a Quality Control Inspector. Joan was active with the Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure and the American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Joan loved animals and enjoyed having many pets. She was predeceased by her father, John Kesler.

Surviving: her husband of 6 years, Kevin Terpening; children, Robert Root of Syracuse and Nikki Root of South Hannibal; step children, Dana, Justin and Jacqueline; mother, Catherine Kesler of Syracuse; siblings, John (Cindy) Kesler, Dick (Anita) Kesler, Joyce (George) Pfeiffer, twin brother, James (Patty) Kesler, Cathy Kesler-Coats; best friends Ron and Laurie Green and family; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday with a 7 p.m. service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal.
