John C. Stupp, 61, of Oswego, died Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse following a sudden illness. A native of the Oswego area, he was a life resident. John worked at Oberdorfer LLC in Syracuse and previously at Smith & McCaffery in Liverpool. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1975 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
John was predeceased by his father, Charles Stupp in 2005. Surviving are: his companion, Bonnieta Reed of Oswego; his children, Marie Stupp of Elizabeth, NJ, Isabella Strong, Julie Knopp and John Stupp all of Fulton; his mother, Jessie Stupp of Umatilla, FL; two sisters, Sharon Smith of Umatilla, FL and Linda Wright of Hannibal; three step-children, Tammy Thomas of Fulton, Bill Loomis of Hannibal and Jason Loomis of Cato; 12 grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal with burial at Fairdale Rural Cemetery, Hannibal and military honors by V.F.W. Post 569, Fulton. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. Contributions may be made to the family.
