Joyce Abraham LeRoy, 69

FULTON, NY – Joyce Abraham LeRoy, 69, of Fulton, passed away on Monday December 31, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, following a brief illness with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Utica on July 17, 1943, the daughter of the late James C. and Mamie (Simon) Abraham.

Joyce graduated from Utica Catholic Academy in 1961.

On July 9, 1983, she was united in marriage to Charles D. LeRoy and lived in Fulton since 1983.

Joyce had worked as a sales associate at Wal-Mart and as a school bus driver for the Fulton Consolidated School District.

She was an active member of Oswego County Visually Impaired and organized yearly Thanksgiving food baskets for those less fortunate.

Joyce is survived her beloved husband, Chuck LeRoy; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Marc) Elken; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael (Michele) Handzel; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Elken and Max Handzel; and a brother-in-law, George LeRoy.

She was predeceased by her brother, James F. Abraham.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, with services immediately following.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oswego County Visually Impaired in Joyce’s memory.

The family would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomas Grady and the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for all of their care and compassion shown to Joyce.
