Linda K. Chrisman

February 28, 2024, Linda K. Chrisman, 62, of Oswego, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle against cancer for two years. Linda enjoyed long hikes along the shore of Lake Ontario with her soulmate of 20 years and wife of 5 years, Sue. Anyone who knew Linda had seen part of her treasures that were collected along those shores. Pieces of broken lake glass, marbles, pottery from the days of old, miniature toy soldiers, all broken yet beautiful in her eyes. Linda was a very good listener. People seemed to gravitate towards her. Sue saw this when she met her while she worked the switchboard at Mental Health in 2004. Clients and staff alike would seek her out just to have a few minutes with someone who genuinely cared. Through the years with the Ladies Home of Oswego and finally the Gardens, this never changed. She was indeed respected and very much loved. Linda was predeceased by both parents, and her brother, Harlow.

Linda is survived by her wife, Sue Carpenter-Diesing; her siblings, Bob, Pete, Mike, and Kathy; Linda also leaves behind a loving stepdaughter, Jennifer Diesing, and two granddaughters, Morgan, and Katie Diesing.

Linda seemed incapable of telling anyone that she couldn’t do something for them or didn’t have the time. She always found the time and showed immense amounts of patience. The love that people had for her was immeasurable.

Linda had a heart of gold. But most of her heart was taken by her loving sister, Kathy Hughes, and her very special niece and nephew, Erica Hughes, and Alex Hughes. They were her world, and everyone was aware of this. Linda did not leave us all voluntarily – she fought as hard as she could!

When you feel a warm breeze touch your cheek as you stand by the shores of Lake Ontario, know that it’s her, reminding you that she will never leave you. She will forever be by your side, watching over you and smiling.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 pm on Saturday, March 9th at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of CNY, https://www.hospicecny.org/memorial-donation/ in Linda’s memory.
