FULTON, NY – Longin John “Red” Minota, 89, of Phoenix, passed away Monday January 21, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Syracuse on April 26, 1923, to Anthony and Elizabeth Minota, Red had lived in the Phoenix area most of his life.

He retired as a mechanic from Allied Chemical after more than 30 years.

He had also owned and operated a farm for many years.

He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Muriel J. Truax Minota, who died January 22, 2007.

A dedicated father to his children and foster children, Red is survived by daughters, Linda (Herman) Harrington of Fulton, Judy Petrie of Pennellville, Constance (Mike) Root of Fulton, Christine (Brett) McBean of Fulton and Sally (Mike) Karkruff of Phoenix; sons, Stephen Minota of Phoenix and Andy Minota of Sandy Creek; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Phoenix Food Pantry, 41 Bridge St., Phoenix, NY 13135.
