OSWEGO COUNTY – Mary Calderwood died on July 3, 2024 at the age of 91. Mary was dearly loved by her family. She was married to her husband Robert for 54 years, who passed away in 2014. Mary is survived by her children, Paul, Andrew (Laura) and Tammy (Bill) Mehrtens, her sister, Jeanette Ours, along with seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mary grew up in Hornell, NY and was a proud member of the US Air Force, having served at the Pentagon during the Korean War. Mary also worked for the New York Telephone Company. She and her husband settled in North Syracuse, NY and then in Phoenix, NY, where they raised their three children and fostered many others. Most recently, Mary was a parishioner at Fulton Nazarene Church in Fulton, NY.

Mary was a private person, who lived her life with great integrity and with a strong faith in God. She was a humble person, who took great pride in her family and in her service to our country. Mary loved gardening, cross stitch, and pottery. She was a champion at jigsaw puzzles and spent many hours on her word search books. Mary had a competitive streak and enjoyed playing card games and board games with her family. In her younger years, she took pleasure in camping and traveling with her husband. She lived simply and focused on the things that mattered the most to her. Her life and her love were a blessing to those around her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 12pm to 1pm with service celebrating Mary’s life at 1:00 PM at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

The family would like to thank the staff at Park Terrace at Radisson and Elderwood in Liverpool for taking such wonderful care of Mary these past few years.
