FULTON – Melissa Sue Harris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on Wednesday, September 2, 1953, in Fulton, New York, Melissa remained a lifelong resident of her cherished hometown.
Melissa was the devoted wife of Timothy L. Harris, with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving family and created countless memories, including cherished trips to the Outer Banks and memorable cruises. Her love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life, and she found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Timothy, and her children: Robert M. Spohn II, Scott (Leanne) Spohn, Tammy (Roberto) Jiminez, and Kristin (Jeffrey) Garcia. She was the proud grandmother of Kenny, Christopher, Korbin (Alexis), Dominic, Olyvia, Chase, Peyton, Adriana, Andy, Adam, and Dianna. Her brother, Gary (Fran) Gorman, also survives her, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon C. Gorman and Edna Gorman, her step-daughter, Joann Harris, and her brother, Kevin Gorman.
For many years, Melissa worked as a dedicated factory worker at Nestle Co. in Fulton. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her job were admired by her colleagues and friends. Melissa had a passion for cooking and sewing, and she found great fulfillment in making winter hats for children and donating them to hospitals. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy of giving will be remembered by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4pm-6pm at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY.
