Mike Vinch

Mike Vinch

Mike Vinch, 77, of Fulton, NY passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in Oswego Hospital.

Mike was born in Ogdensburg, NY to Adrian Donald Vinch, Sr and Theresa (Legault) Vinch. He grew up in Syracuse, NY with his sisters, Adrienne Gulgert, Valerie Reynolds, and Theresa Polifroni. He enlisted in the Navy in 1969, was classified as a fireman’s apprentice and marine mechanic, and served his country in the Vietnam War on the USS James C. Owens naval ship.

In 1971, he met the love of his life, Shirley (Clark) Vinch and they were married the same year. They had 2 children, Diane Vinch-Belone (Junnior) and Stephenie Atkins (Jason). Mike liked going out and socializing with his wife, and he enjoyed raising his daughters and playing softball and basketball with them. He also taught them how to play blackjack, how to drive, how to change a tire, and most importantly, how to have a good time.

Mike also loved his role as grandfather to Imani Perry, Noah Atkins, and Presley Atkins. He was always happy to participate in a Tik Tok dance, attend basketball games, and took no mercy on them in a squirt gun battle.

He had a passion for cars, and worked for 30 years at Chrysler/New Venture Gear in Syracuse, NY as a tow motor operator, and 15 years at Hertz Rental Car.

Mike will always be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to make everyone who knew him laugh. He was always willing to help someone in need, but it would cost them “5 bucks.”

Mike is predeceased by his parents, and sister, Adrienne Gulgert. He is survived by his sisters, Valerie Reynolds, and Theresa Polifroni.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM with a memorial service to follow at 6pm at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St, Fulton, on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his honor. To leave a special message for the family, please visit www.fosterfuneralhome.com. missing or outdated ad config
