Richard A. Crouse, 78

FULTON, NY – Richard A. “Birdie” Crouse, 78, a lifelong resident of North Volney, passed away Saturday January 10, 2015, at home.

He was born in Sodus, NY, on February 8, 1936, a son to the late Guy and Margaret Featherly Crouse and was a well-known logger and tree cutter.

Richard had been a painter with I.U.P.A.T. Local 38, Oswego, and had worked at the Marathon Paper Plant in Oswego.

He was a member of the crew at Crouse Auto in Oswego.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Beverly Clark, Larry, David and Robert Crouse.

Richard is survived by five sisters, Rosemary Clark of Arizona, Margaret (William) Branshaw of Granby, Linda Hoyt of Scriba, Donna (Terry) Stab of Georgia and Trish (Steve) Sucher of South Carolina; five brothers, Doug Crouse of Scriba, Daniel (Jean) Crouse of Scriba, Gary Crouse of Scriba, Todd (Karen) Crouse of North Volney and Steve (Jodi) Crouse of Hannibal; his best friend and soulmate, Barbara Jean Porter and her family of Fulton; his uncle, Harry Featherly of Sodus; an aunt, Thelma Havert of Painted Post, NY; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Monday with services to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

Burial will be in the spring at Peck Cemetery.
