Richard D. Slocum

HANNIBAL, NY – Richard D. (Rick) Slocum, of Wolcott, passed away on Tuesday March 22, 2016, at Rochester General Hospital.

Rick was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his parents, June and Adelbert (Del) Slocum.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marcia; his daughter, Karen (Jason) Brezinski; grandchildren, Quinton Crawford and Araya Brezinski; brothers, Terry (Belle) Slocum and John (Cathy) Slocum as well as several nieces and nephews.

Rick was born May 28, 1946, in Syracuse, NY.

He spent his teen-age years in Fair Haven, NY, and graduated from Red Creek High School in 1965.

After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and worked as a jet engine mechanic.

After his discharge he went to work for Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut.

He left Pratt-Whitney and went to work at Eastman Kodak.

He started in the camera shop on the production line, was promoted to equipment service representative repairing photofinishing equipment, became a regional specialist and when he retired in 2001 was in a managerial position in the Business Imaging Systems department.

In his spare time, Rick was an accomplished woodworker, avid hunter and enjoyed the shooting sports.

He was a member and past president of the Red Creek Conservation Club and an active member of Peterson-Hall Post 436 of the American Legion where he served as vice commander.

Rick was an amazing husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend who will be missed greatly.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling.
