HANNIBAL, NY – Thelma J. Sidman, 90, of Hannibal, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at Morningstar Care Center in Oswego.
A native of Victory, Thelma was a life resident of the Hannibal area.
She had worked at Schuler’s Potato Chip Company in Cato from 1940-1941 and served as tax collector for the town of Hannibal from 1973-1993 and as school tax collector for eight years during the 1980s.
Thelma was a member and former trustee of the Hannibal Center United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for several years and was a former financial secretary of the church.
She was also a member and treasurer of the United Methodist Women in Hannibal Center.
She had enjoyed sewing and reading.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband, George A. Sidman, in 1998; and by infant twin great-granddaughters, Elaina and Jenna Sidman.
Surviving are: two sons, Lee (Cheri) Sidman of Hannibal and Ray (Martha) Sidman of San Bernardino, Calif.; a daughter, Sandra Loomis of Fulton; a brother, Howard Boyce of Perrysburg, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal, with services at 5 p.m.
Spring burial will be at Fairdale Rural Cemetery, Hannibal.
