Thomas J. O’Brien, 77

FULTON, NY – Thomas J. O’Brien, 77, of Cato, passed away on Wednesday July 15, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

A native of Flushing, NY, he was a graduate of Weedsport High School and lived in the Cato-Hannibal area for many years.

Tom was working for U.S. Security Associates and had previously worked for U.S. Securitas at Sysco Foods, Guardsmark Security at Miller Brewing Co. and was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and served five times in Vietnam.

He had also owned and operated T & L Redemption Center in Hannibal and was a self-employed locksmith.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, William and Ruth O’Brien, formerly of Weedsport.

On July 9, 1960, Tom married Linda Slater and they have celebrated 55 cherished years together.

He is also survived by two sons, Tim (Lyn) O’Brien of Colorado and Terry O’Brien of Fulton; a daughter, Tammy (John) Eastman of Hannibal; three granddaughters, Michelle Rockwood of Oswego, Stephanie Eastman of North Syracuse and Kallie O’Brien of Waterloo; a grandson, Bradley O’Brien of Waterloo; a brother, Jack (Barb) O’Brien of Felton, Dela.; a sister, Sally (Dick) Alnutt of Weedsport; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Naomi Bevier, Betty Mecca, Emmeline Peters and Virginia Cuyle and brothers-in-law, Roy Slater Jr. and Walter Pawlina.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Buffalo and South Third streets in Fulton.

Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Seventh Street, Fulton.
