Virginia E. Westerman, 90

HANNIBAL, NY – Virginia E. “Ginnie” Westerman, 90, of Red Creek, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday September 10, 2013, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital in Newark.

Born in Syracuse, she moved to and lived in Red Creek most of her life.

Ginnie retired from the Red Creek Central School District after many years as a bus driver, bus driver trainer and parking lot security guard.

Prior to that, she worked at Comstock Foods in the scale house.

She was a 28-year member of the Red Creek Volunteer Fire Department, co-chair of the Red Creek Fun Days and active with the Red Creek Girl Scouts.

Ginnie was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Crossin; and a brother, William Crossin.

Surviving are her two daughters, Debra (Richard) Letson of Red Creek and Sandra (William) Arnold of Lyons; two grandchildren, Sgt. Richard Letson Jr. of Fort Drum, Watertown and Samantha Letson of Savannah, Ga.; many nieces and grandnieces.

There are no calling hours or services.

A memorial reception will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday September 19, at the Red Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Keeley Street, Red Creek, NY.
