Charles Allers

MEXICO, NY – On Thursday July 9^th, our family was shocked by the surprise passing of our dad, grandfather, husband, uncle, cousin and friend, Charles Allers.  He was a Syracuse native, accomplished football player, athlete and Air Force veteran.  He moved his growing family to Mexico, NY in 1982 and built his family there while continuing to cherish his extended family in Syracuse.  This included his mother, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He organized family get-togethers in summer, at Christmas, and through lots of fishing on the lakes, ocean, ice, or in the rivers.  He fished for walleye, bass, perch, panfish, salmon, trout, and bullhead. You name it he was ready to fish for it. He didn’t just love out fishing everybody, he loved building relationships through fishing and turning friends into family. Some of his favorite days were spent on the water with his best friend, Steve Fiore, a cousin by blood but a brother in every way that mattered.

He lived every day, living and loving life to the max. He loved being a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, and a friend. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t share, from his tools to his time helping on projects, or his house, or to whoever needed help. He loved being able to be there to help and share.

He was the life of every party but more than anything, he loved simply showing up for his family. You could always count on finding him at a game, graduation, birthday party, wedding, or any milestone worth celebrating.

As an athlete he was an avid sports fan. If you didn’t see him out and about celebrating milestones and accomplishments of his family and friends, you would be able to catch him at home enjoying and being a witness to the accomplishments taking place every day in the world of sports.

The foundation of his life was with his wife, the love of his life. For 60 years they did everything together and they did everything for their family.

Charles was predeceased by his mother, Loretta Kolodziejczyk; father William Allers; and sisters, Suzanne Tortora and Linda Desilvio.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Allers; his children Jason, Tim (Majken Bassette), Chrissy (Jim Mason), TJ (Jonathon Simkhai) and Debbie (Rene Ferris); his grandchildren, Alivia, Baxter, Emma, Ayva, Wyatt, Max, Jake, Dylan, Parker, Dean, Zander, Evelyn, Eliot, River, Kairo, Georgia and his unborn great-grandson, George Edward Smith IV.

There will be a celebration of life at the Eis House, 144 Academy Street, Mexico, NY 13114 on Saturday July 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm – 4:00pm.  Eulogies will begin at 2:00 pm.
