Gil F. Lopez

WEST MONROE, NY – Gil Lopez of Central Square, N.Y entered into eternal peace on Tuesday Sep 3, 2024, after a brief illness. He was 65.

Gil was born in Newark, NJ  and lived his childhood in Willingboro , N.J.

Gil was a graduate of SUNY Potsdam with a concentration in Music. Following graduation, he enjoyed a lifetime career teaching in the Central Square area schools. How lucky he was to love and live his passion, teaching music and spent many happy years acting in theatrical productions and performing in local bands in the Syracuse area .

Everyone enjoyed his unique sense of humor, random jokes, his beautiful singing voice, historical references and his take on modern society . He would love sharing memories of his family , his students and Old World wisdom. He will be remembered for improving the lives of the generation of students he interacted with. Gil did it “His way’. similar to the reference of the famous Frank Sinatra song. All these beautiful memories will help to carry us forward and live life to the fullest, as he did everyday.

Gil was preceded in death by his Mother, Evelyn, his  Father Fred, his brother Guy, his nephews and niece.

Gil is survived by his beloved brother Fred, cousins, friends and generations of students.

A private remembrance celebration will happen at a later time.
