FULTON – John Henry LeClair Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at his Florida residence with his wife by his side. John was born in Oswego to the late Charles and Leona (Smith) LeClair. He graduated from Fulton High School, class of 1962.
He was a proud US Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam Era from 1964 – 1968 with many accomplishments. He was a life member of the VFW. After serving his country he pursued a career at Armstrong World Industries for 25 years. He was well known for his love of cars, especially his 1935 Ford Coupe. After retiring he opened his own business, LeClair’s Custom & Detail Shop. He worked on many cars with his wife, Shelly and 3 very special young men (David MacDougall Jr., Brandon Martin, and Phillip MacDougall (PJ), who were always there to help him. John’s love of cars was a very important part of his life. During his lifetime he was involved in many car clubs and car shows where he won several awards.
John is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Shelly (Holden) LeClair, his son John LeClair Jr. (Penny) of Florida, his daughter Desiree “DeDe” Caza (Mike) of Fulton, his sister Mary Pitts of Red Creek, his brother William LeClair (Debbie) of Syracuse. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Mindy Sue Mathis, Brenden Woolworth, Lauren Le, Michael Ann Macomber, Kelsey Caza, amd Dilyn Caza, 11 great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
John was predeceased by his daughter Colleen LeClair, brother Robert LeClair, and brother in-law Arthur Pitts.
In lieu of flowers you may donate in John’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Graveside Services will be on Saturday October 4th,11:00 am at St. Mary’s Cemetery, S 7th Street, Fulton NY 13069.
