FULTON – Sallie A. Lanphear passed away on January 26,2026 at Pontiac Nursing Home where she was a resident. She was born in Gouverneur, NY. Her parents were Gordon and Gladys Exford, they were residents of DeGrasee NY.
Sallie attended Knox Memorial School where she graduated. She met and married
Thomas Garry Matthews and had two children. The marriage ended in divorce. She then met Frank who she married in 1977. Sallie was a dedicated CNA with several nursing homes and eventually retired from Michaud Nursing Home in Fulton.
Frank and Sallie had a very special friend and caregiver Deb Beauchamp. She went over and above to help them out no matter what!
Sallie is survived by her daughter, Jill Matthews-Tripp and her son Thomas G. Matthews Jr;
grandsons, Brian Reynolds and Derrick Reynolds; and great granddaughter Maddison Reynolds.
Sallie was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings, Effie Belle Martin, Alice Loop, Mary Henrie, Harry Exford, and Myron Exford.
At Sallie’s request there will be no services.
