OSWEGO – Anthony A. Mesiano October 4, 1932 – December 11, 2025
Anthony A. Mesiano, lifelong resident of Oswego, New York, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025. He was born in Albany, New York, on October 4, 1932, and at the age of two was lovingly adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mesiano.
Anthony lived in Oswego for nearly all of his life, except for his service years in Texas from 1952 to 1954. While serving his country, he learned the art of print setting, a skill that reflected his dedication to craftsmanship.
Upon returning home, Anthony worked for Marathon before spending most of his career at Alcan, where he was employed as an oiler.
Anthony was an avid gardener, a passion that began as a teenager working on the mucklands of Oswego. In retirement, his garden became his pride and joy, a place of beauty and abundance. He delighted in sharing his gardening skills with anyone and everyone, offering advice, plants, and encouragement to neighbors and friends. He also found joy in winemaking, crafting wines that delighted family and friends. His dedication to the craft even earned him an award, a testament to his skill and creativity.
Anthony was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Bonacorsi Mesiano, with whom he shared many cherished years.
He is survived by his sister Mary Poirier of Florida, his sister-in-law, Shirley Polifroni of Auburn, his nieces and nephews, along with his close neighbours and dear friends, Sam and Marylou Cernaro, who shared in his daily life and companionship.
A Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rt. 48, Minetto, New York, on December 19, 2025, at 11 am. Friends and family are invited to call upon the family one hour prior to the Mass at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego, New York. Following the service, Anthony will enter the mausoleum at St. Peter Cemetery, joining his beloved wife, Mary.
