Benedetta (Betty) Catarina (Manasseri) Harrington

Benedetta (Betty) Catarina (Manasseri) Harrington, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025.

She was born in Oswego, NY, on January 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Benedetto and Rosaria Manasseri.

Betty graduated from Oswego High School and Syracuse Comptometer School, where she was awarded the “Comptometer Pin” for excellence. Her career started at Sealright Co. in Fulton in the accounting department. Still, her skills and personality moved her into the service industry, where she worked as a waitress at Vona’s and as a supervisor at Holiday Inn. Her next accomplishment was the owner of Sugar n’ Spice Restaurant, where her financial skills, management, and restaurant experience grew the restaurant from losing money to being profitable. Her love of flowers led her next to owning Perry’s Flower Shop. Finally, her compassion took her to Harwood Nursing Home (Morning Star) where she worked as a Dietician and Supervisor, until her retirement.

Betty was a devoted Catholic who enjoyed bowling, swimming, and gardening in her earlier years.  In recent years, her time was spent crocheting, watching game shows, and winning the board game Aggravation 99% of the time.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband of 66 years, Michael Harrington, her son Michael (Tammy) Harrington of North Carolina, her son Daniel Harrington, and daughter Kelly (TJ) Moxley, both of Oswego. Grandchildren: Michael (Melissa) Harrington Jr.,  Brittany (Nick) Outlaw, Cali Jo Rodrigus, Nathaniel (Giselle) Harrington, Benjamin (Allie) Harrington, and Tianna (Andrew) Moxley.  Great grandchildren: Alisse Harrington, Samara Harrington, Bryan Outlaw, Brantley Outlaw, and Xander Harrington.  Sisters Rosalie Secor of Florida and Katherine Pullen of Oswego, brother Anthony (Mary Anne)  Manasseri of Texas, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Besides her parents, Betty is predeceased by her grandson Scott Harrington, sister Josephine Adams, and niece Lisa Secor.

Celebrate the life of Betty by loving yourself and others; pay forward kindness; and cherish time spent with family and friends.

Calling hours will be Thursday, August 7, 2:00-4:00, at her home (21 West Tenth Street, Oswego).  Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church.  Entombment will follow in All Saints’ Mausoleum, St. Peter Cemetery.
