Carmella V. Woods

OSWEGO – Carmella V. Woods, 90, of Oswego, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Catherine (DiMattina) Murabito.

Carmella was a graduate of Oswego High School. She married the love of her life, the late Thomas J. Woods, in 1954. They were married for 68 years. She was a dedicated employee at St. Luke’s Nursing Home from the day it opened until she retired. Carmella served as the evening LPN supervisor.

She was a devoted and faithful Catholic. She loved to bowl and joined the 55 & over Thursday bowling team. Carmella was the Vice President of the Scriba Town Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. She was also a hospice volunteer.

Mom was considerate and kind to everyone she met and always left them richer for having spent time with her. She was cherished and treasured, and she was a devoted wife and mother.  Her first and last love was Dad.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Cheri Lynn (William) Calderone of Scriba and Mary (David) Sharman of Washington State, and her grandson, Joshua R. Swan. Carmella is also survived by her loving brother, Rosario J. Murabito of Scriba.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carmella was preceded in death by her son, Thomas P. Woods.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services to follow on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
