OSWEGO – Carol Y. Hollenbeck, 75, of Mexico passed unexpectedly on February 5, 2024, at home.

Born in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Olive (Tidwell) Sprague.

Carol worked at Nestle as a machine operator for more than 20 years until the day they closed. She also worked at Walmart in her later years.

Carol was an animal lover and especially loved her dogs.  She was an avid gardener and enjoyed planning out and tending to her gardens in the warm months.  She adored her family and cherished all her time spent time them.  She will be missed dearly.

Carol is survived by her five children, daughters Tammie (Michael) Dickinson of North Carolina and Karen (Jim) Puccia of Watertown, and sons John F. (Sharon) Hollenbeck Jr. of Palermo, Dennis (Cheryl) Hollenbeck of Mexico, and Dale (Tara) Hollenbeck of Oswego, and her longtime partner Bob Chrisman.  She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband John F. Hollenbeck Sr. and her siblings Claudia Ferlito, Billy Sprague, Bobby Sprague, and Betty Reed.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 10, 2024,  from 1-3 pm, with a service to follow at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street, Oswego.  A Spring burial will be held at a later date in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.   Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
