Dawn Irene Tice

OSWEGO – Dawn Irene Tice, 88 years old, died peacefully in her home on May 3, 2025.  She was born in Oswego, NY, to Dorothy (Harrington) and Lewis Pelkey.  She had three half sisters and one half brother.

She worked at A&P Grocers, Nestle’s Chocolate Works, and Montgomery Ward.  Her main job was raising children, not only her own, but she selflessly became a surrogate mother/grandmother to all she met.  To know Dawn was to love her. After her first grandchild, she would affectionately be known as “Nanni”, a role in which she surpassed all expectations, touching and shaping the lives of multiple generations.  She was a friend and mentor to all and never met a single animal she wouldn’t rescue.

She is predeceased by her eldest son, Scott Tice, and grandson Cody Tice.

Dawn is survived by her husband, of almost 70 years, Richard Tice, sons Kevin (Laurie) Tice, Brett (Kathy) Tice, and daughter Brandi Engle.  She had 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Nanni, you have watched over all of us since the day we were born, and we continue to feel your love and guidance.  We will see you in every flower bloom, feel you in the warmth of the sun, and hear you in the wind chimes.  We hope you’re enjoying watching the birds with Scott and Cody.

We love you a Bushel and a Peck, Always and 4ever.

Following Dawn’s wishes, there will be no services.

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
