Dennis Eugene Segler

OSWEGO – Dennis Eugene Segler, 52, of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2026.

Born in Peoria, Illinois, he was the son of Michael E. Segler and the late Shirley A. (Roberson) Shear.

As a handyman, Dennis worked on various maintenance jobs over the years, including asbestos removal and service for the City of Oswego. Most recently, Dennis worked as a maintenance person for residents in assisted living, forming many lasting relationships at each place he visited.

With a gentle soul, Dennis loved his family and friends deeply, maintaining friendships for decades. His favorite place to be was in the woods, hunting and photographing nature. He enjoyed working on cars and, as a big fan of NASCAR, was involved with racing season and enjoyed driving motorcycles in his later years. Always willing to lend a hand, he was loved by many.

Dennis is survived by his loving sister Nicole Rowe (James Motyka) and her 5 children Peyton Rowe, Gavin Rowe, Alexis Rowe, Shannon Fellows, Chelsea Denson, sister Billi Jo (Tim) Bradley of Iowa, sister Bobbi Jo (Kent) Ulm of Illinois, his girlfriend Courtney Whaley, cousin Troy Roberson (Mae Roberson) of Texas, his children Brianna and Ashley,  cousin Justin R. Leach (Lindsey Leach), of Washington, their children Riley and Bryce, as well as life-long best friend Donald Moody.

In addition to his mother, Shirley, Dennis was preceded in death by his stepfather, Terry Shear; Aunt Mary Leach, Uncle Dr. Aaron Roberson, Aunt Marty Roberson; grandparents, Arvin and Imogene (Jolley) Roberson; and Albert and Irma Segler.
