OSWEGO — Doris E. Lisk, 89, of Oswego, New York, passed away on October 24, 2026, at Oswego Health.

Born on March 28, 1937, in Fulton, New York, Doris was the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence Thornburg. She attended and graduated from Oswego City schools. With a deep love for her family and a desire to help others, Doris devoted many years to being a homemaker before later working as a teacher’s assistant for special-needs students at Frederick Leighton Elementary School.

Known affectionately as Dorie, she devoted her life to her family, who were always her greatest joy. She especially cherished time spent caring for her grandchildren and granddogs. She also enjoyed playing golf at Oswego Country Club, reading, and gardening. Together, Doris and Ed loved traveling and enjoying fine dining at local restaurants.

Dorie was a loving and steadfast supporter of Ed throughout his career, attending a lifetime of musical events, including symphonic and jazz concerts, as well as award ceremonies celebrating his accomplishments.

Doris was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Janice, and her beloved husband, Edward, her high school sweetheart and loving spouse of 69 years.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Carol Crist (William) and Jean Buske (David); six grandchildren, Lindsay Jones (Brian), Emily, William, David, Brian, and Jonathon (Kendra); and eleven cherished great-grandchildren, Carter, Matthew, Daniel, Ella, Cameron, Aubrey, Oliver, Eloise, Chloe, Flora, and Murphy.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers who provided compassionate care to both Doris and Ed over the past five years. Their kindness and dedication will never be forgotten. Special thanks are also extended to Oswego Health for the loving care given to Doris during her final days and for the support shown to her family during their time of grief.

A Catholic funeral Mass for both Doris and Ed Lisk will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Family and friends are invited to gather at Oswego Country Club following the service to celebrate and honor the lives of Doris and Ed.

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
