OSWEGO – Dorothy J. Sharkey, 92, of Oswego, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2025, at Seneca Hill Manor, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 26th, 1932, to the late John and Lena (Mott) Bush. She graduated from Oswego High School in 1950. Later that year she married her husband, Harold Sharkey and together they raised five children.
She enjoyed gardening, doing word searches, and watching her children and grandchildren participate in all of their activities. She was a member of The Oswego Center United Methodist Church/Journey of Faith.
Dorothy is survived by her sons David (Tammy) Sharkey of Mexico and Scott (Linda) Sharkey of Oswego, and daughters Diane Sharkey of Oswego, Judy (Chip) Parr of Smithfield, NC, and Sandra (Thomas Chaundy) Sharkey of Oswego. As well as grandchildren Amy (Barry King) Gerth, Shannon (Zack Allen) McManus, Bobby Jones, Michelle Shatraw, Skip (Bernadette) Parr, Greg (Leslie) Parr, Brian (Leah) Sharkey, Heather (TJ) Dunsmoor, Trey Love, Isaiah Love, and 17 great-grandchildren, her special sister-in-law and friend Ella Cooper, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Harold, brothers Robert and Leonard Bush, and her sisters Irene Parsons and Marion Mahaney.
The Sharkey family would like to thank the staff at Seneca Hill Manor for their kindness and compassionate care of their mother.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 4-6, with a service to follow at Nelson Funeral Home.
