Edward F. Izyk

Edward F. Izyk

OSWEGO – Edward F. Izyk, 85, of Oswego, passed away on March 10, 2025, with his wife by his side.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Edward B. and Mazie (Foley) Izyk.

Ed was a long-time employee of Oswego DPW and Traffic Department.

Ed enjoyed watching the birds out in his feeders. They had many “regulars” who came back year after year.  The Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Cardinal, and Blue Jays were among his favorites.  His calm demeanor even welcomed the hummingbirds to land on his nose.  Ed also loved the Dashhounds they had over the years.  He had a talent and love for restoring antique cars and enjoyed traveling to car shows with his wife to show them.  He also looked forward to catching up and getting his morning coffee with his friends at McDonalds. Ed was a member of the Country Cruisers, and he loved trains.

Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Joan (Gibson) Izyk and children Jolene (Late Mike) Mandurano, William (Lisa) Izyk, Julie (Ted Devendorf) Izyk, and Mark (Abbey Hough) Izyk.  He is also survived by grandchildren Justin Mandurano, Sean Mandurano, Nicole Galletta, Sarah Porter, Tyler Ordway, and Ash Izyk, several great-grandchildren, his sister Elaine Chillson and many nieces, nephews, and close friends, in particular his special friend Dave Russell.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas, William, and Michael Izyk, and sister Frances Cernaro.

Services will be held on a future date to be announced at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W Albany Street.
