OSWEGO – Edward R. Ferguson, 74, of the town of Oswego, passed away on May 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Edward Ferguson and Marjorie (Somers) Glerum.

A man of many talents Ed worked in construction, he retired from the Oswego County Correctional Facility, where he worked with his brother Fred, and he also owned and operated the family tavern, Humphrey’s Hideaway for 15 years.

Ed was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the US Army from 1968 to 1971.

He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed being a dad more than anything and always put his family first.  He spent many hours lovingly restoring his 1966 Chevy Truck.  He also loved motorcycles and classic cars as well as hunting with his brothers Frank and Fred.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 42 years,  Karen, children Bill (Eileen) Ferguson, Melanie (Jim) Curtis, Stacie Ferguson (Frank Barilla), Christopher Ferguson.  He also leaves behind his brothers Frank Ferguson (Laurie Burdick) and Frederick Ferguson(Jeanine Godden),  his sisters Frani (Donny) Murray, Darlene Galvin, Donna (George) Graham and step-sister Carol (Dennis) Quonce, and his beloved grandchildren Mike, Scott, Brock, Cathryn, James, Brendan, Ryan, Callan, Jacob, and Kelsie, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by an infant son, Edward R. Ferguson Jr., his stepson John Michael Spath, his sister Carol Ashbee, his grandson Jesse Jordan, and his stepfather Pete Glerum and his beloved dog Rusty.

Family and friends are invited to call from 3-6 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 10 am at Nelson Funeral Home, with his burial to follow at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Clear Path for Veterans.
