OSWEGO – Edward W. Dumas, 83, of Minetto, passed away on February 10, 2024.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Leon and Nina (Harding) Dumas.

Ed was a graduate of Oswego High School.  He worked as a pipe fitter for Local #73 for many years.

Ed was truly a remarkable individual whose presence brought joy and laughter to anyone who knew him.  One of Ed’s greatest contributions was creating fond memories for folks. Whether cracking a joke or sharing a funny story, he had a knack for brightening any situation.

Ed’s most significant impact was undoubtedly felt within his own family. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he exemplified the values of hard work and compassion. He cherished every moment spent with his family, whether hunting and fishing or simply enjoying their company under his favorite tree. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and his legacy will live on through the love and memories he shared with them.

We will miss his garden and all the bounties he shared, but the memories of his warmth, humor, and love will continue to bring happiness to those who knew him.

Ed is survived by his devoted sons Edward (Jo Ann) Dumas of Cicero, Douglas Dumas of Oswego, and Matthew (Amy) Dumas of Minetto. He also leaves behind adored grandchildren Edward J. Dumas, Emily Allen, Brianna Dumas, Joshua Dumas, Jacob Dumas, and Hunter Dumas, and great-grandchildren Rozalynn Dumas, Freyja and Leon Thomas.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded by the love of his life, wife Sandra L. (Yerdon) Dumas in 2022.

A  burial is being planned for the Spring at Minetto Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
