Edwin “Pete” McDougall

OSWEGO – Edwin “Pete” McDougall, born April 29, 1948, passed on Thursday September 17, 2026.

Born and raised in the Chaumont area to Ernest & Evelyn (Kirby) McDougall. Along with his father and brother Bob, Pete worked as a commercial fisherman on Lake Ontario. Pete also worked building snowplows for Frinks in Clayton until they closed. Pete then went onto driving truck for Lee Gill Trucking and Longshore Trucking and Metal Transport in Oswego where he earned the nickname “Pokey Pete”. He also worked for  Laser Transit of Lacona before retiring due to health issues.

Pete belonged to the motorcycle group the Azzdogs until his health prevented him from riding anymore.

A marriage to Nancy Dodge ended in divorce. Then he married Karolyn “Candy” Thompson on Spetember 14, 2001. Pete and Candy owned & operated Candy’s Roadhouse on Route 29 in Scriba for many years.

He is survived by his wife Candy, daughters, Cindy Lennox, Mindy (Jeff) Radley, and Jackie McDougall; stepsons, Vinny (Courtney) Mistico, Mike Mistico; stepdaughters, Tina Mistico, and Jackie (Ellen) Delucia. Pete is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, a great-granddaughter, and 2 more great-granddaughters on the way, as well as his brother Darrell Lemmon and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by brothers, Don and Bob McDougall; sisters Dawn and Patsy; mother-in-law and fathers-in-law Korolyn (Roger) Wallace, and Jack Thompson, and sister-in-law Jackie.

Per his wishes there are no services or calling hours. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday October 4th at Cedmardo Campgrounds Pavillion, Partrick Drive Pulaski at 2 pm. As this was his favorite summer hangout where they have been for 15 years.
