George D. “Dan” Greene III

OSWEGO – George D. “Dan” Greene III, 65, of Oswego, passed away on December 10, 2024.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George D. and Dorothy Ann (Kraft) Greene Jr.

Dan earned his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Plattsburg and his Master’s from SUNY Oswego.  He worked as a Health Teacher at Oswego Middle School for more than 30 years. Dan was an athlete and a strong runner.  He ran competitively in high school and college. His love for all sports led him to be a High School Track and Cross Country Coach, a position he enjoyed and was loved for.  Dan was a sports enthusiast who also loved watching all sports, especially hockey.  He enjoyed being outside and loved to boat and fish. He loved his family and having the kids around, and he loved sharing his corny Dan jokes, which never failed to bring laughter.

Dan struggled with Rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 25 but never gave up the fight.  He always strived to stay active, keep a positive outlook on life, and always enjoyed the company of family and friends. He will forever be remembered for his strength, love, and laughter.

Dan is survived by his long-time partner Phyllis Masuicca,  her children J.P. (Laurie) Masuicca, Terri  (Jason) Wills, and Brian (Julie ) Masuicca, and grandchildren Colin (Teal), Nicholas, Chase, Briannna, and Carsyn. He also leaves behind his sisters Cheryl Consentino (Micky) and Charlotte Merz, niece and nephews Kelly (Scott) Cook, Darren (Stephanie) McNeil, Todd (Sue) Consentino, PJ (Michelle) Consentino, as well as eight great nieces and two great nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 3-6 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street.  A funeral service will follow at 6 pm.

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
