Harold H. Spear

OSWEGO – Harold H. Spear, 88, of Oswego and formerly of Lowville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 15, 2024.

Born in Parishville NY, he was the son of the late James H. and Beulah W. (Brownell) Spear.

Harold worked for Kraft Foods in Lowville for the bulk of his career, as well as AMF, and helped various farmers throughout his life.  He was also a card dealer at the Hogansburg Casino for a stretch.  Harold was generous to anyone in need.  His biggest love was all things cards and puzzles.

Harold is survived by his daughter Joanne (Michael) Parkhurst of Mexico, and his sons James Spear of Carthage, Jonathan Spear of Athens MO., Jeffrey (Kelly) Spear of Evans Mills, and William Spear of Oswego.  He also leaves behind loved grandchildren Krista Wilbur, Kaitlin Parkhurst, Tanner Spear, Logan Spear, and Lilly Spear, as well as great-grandchildren Kadence Hogle, Chloe Hogle, and Greyson Wilbur.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Wanda (Parson) Spear, his brother Bernard, and his sisters Marion, Ruth, Edith, and Maxine.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 20, 2024, in New Haven Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
