Hazel Louise Cannova

OSWEGO – Hazel Louise Cannova, 87, of County Route 7, Oswego, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Friday, February 28th at the Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital after a short illness.  She was born in Oswego New York, to the late Stephen and Mildred Glendinning Harrington.

In March of 1958, she married her husband Pasquale “Patsy” Cannova. Hazel helped operate the family muck farm before working as a Cafeteria Aide at the Hannibal Central Schools, a Secretary at her son’s Fitness Center (The Body Shoppe), and as an Avon representative taking over her mother Mildred’s business after her death.  Hazel quickly became one of the top-selling regional representatives and received many awards.  She truly enjoyed and appreciated all of her customers and became close friends with many of them.  Hazel enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, and visiting Flea markets with her husband Pat, but most of all she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Patsy, son Scott, and her brother Raymond Harrington.

Hazel is survived by her son David (Amy) Cannova, grandchildren Cayla (Erik) Vanbrocklin, Curtis (Jenn) Cannova, Colton (Taylor) Cannova, and great-grandchildren Elowyn and Juniper Vanbrocklin, and Aiyana Cannova.  She also leaves behind her siblings John (Shirley) Harrington of Idaho, Brian Harrington of Syracuse, sister-in-law Bessie McCoy of Oswego, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 7th, from 3-6 pm, with a prayer service to follow at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany Street.  A spring burial will be held in Fairdale Cemetery, Hannibal.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
