James C. Melfi

OSWEGO – James C. Melfi, 76, of Oswego, passed away on February 14, 2026. Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Vincent Francis and Marie L. (Case) Melfi.

James graduated from Hannibal High School. He worked as a lumber yard supervisor for Neal O’Brien for 26 years and finished his career at Northern Concrete.

James was an active member in his church and enjoyed sharing the Word of God through music. He had a lifetime love of horses. He also enjoyed baking, gardening, and long walks.

James is survived by his son David J. (Tammy Mcrae) Melfi of New Haven, son Joseph C. (Heather) Melfi and grandchildren Norman and Noah of Sterling, daughter Laura M. (Timothy) Boyzuck of Oswego (Loxley, AL) and grandchildren Tim, Tegan, and Sara. Jim welcomed his first great granddaughter, Evelyn, this past year. He also leaves behind his brother Mark M. (Alice) Melfi of Oswego as well as nieces and a nephew.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife Marjorie “Margie” Melfi and his brother Fred T. Melfi.

Graveside services will be held in the spring, on a date to be announced, at Oswego Town Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
