OSWEGO – James Mark Sweet, 71, of Oswego, passed away on October 22, 2026.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late James Iva and Rosemary Barbara (Bailey) Sweet.
James worked in maintenance at SUNY Oswego for 27 years.
He was mechanically inclined and loved building and working on things, especially his lawnmower and e-bike. He also took great pride in his home and enjoyed working on projects around the house. He also enjoyed snowmobiling.
James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Phyllis Ann (Potter) Sweet, and daughter Jamie Sweet. He also leaves behind his sister Linda Reed and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Kathy Jenkins, Kris Pryor, and his brother Timothy Sweet.
There will be no services at this time.
Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
